Background
Vétérinaires Sans Frontières – Suisse (VSF-Suisse) is a development-oriented, politically and religiously neutral non-profit international non-governmental organization (INGO) headquartered in Berne, Switzerland. Activities range from emergency relief to long-term development, with projects in Togo, Mali, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. VSF-Suisse envisions having healthy people live and derive their livelihoods from healthy livestock in a sustainable, healthy and peaceful environment.
VSF-Suisse is an independent, humanitarian, and development organization with a long-standing presence in Ethiopia, supporting pastoral and agro-pastoral communities through livestock-based interventions. Currently, VSF-Suisse is implementing the project titled “Strengthening the Resilience of Vulnerable Groups in the Context of Desert Locust Infestation in Ethiopia,” funded by the World Food Programme (WFP). This project is being implemented in the Harshin and Mula districts of Fafen Zone and the Erer district of Sitti Zone, Somali Region.
About You
A core intervention of the project is the restocking of small ruminants (goats) to restore the livelihoods of highly vulnerable, resource-poor, female-headed households affected by the desert locust crisis. Under this initiative, each selected household will receive 10 breeding goats (9 does and 1 buck) to strengthen their economic resilience and enhance food and nutrition security.
To facilitate this intervention, VSF-Suisse invites eligible and competent livestock marketing cooperatives operating within the project target zones to submit sealed bids for the supply and delivery of 3,000 high-quality breeding goats that meet the technical specifications outlined below.
The tender needs to be submitted as completed tender /bid documents, one original marked “Original “and one copy marked “copy “by stating the tender name and reference number with wax-sealed envelope deposited on the Tender Box at VSF-Suisse’s Jigjiga office within nine working days from the date of advertisement, i.e. Until April 25, 2025, 2:00 PM afternoon. The technical and financial proposals must be placed together in a sealed envelope.
