KAALO and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Sub Office, Galkayo invite qualified internal/external candidates to apply for the following position:

Position Title: Registration Assistant
Number of Positions: 30 positions (for the number of positions in each location, please refer to the duty station below).

Duty Station: Bossaso (15), Galkayo (5), Garowe (5), and Gardo (5), Puntland
Duration: Four (4) Weeks in Bosaso and Two (2) Weeks in other locations (Galkayo, Garowe and Gardo) with no possibility of extension.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of both KAALO and UNHCR, the incumbent will be a member of the verification team for refugees and asylum seekers in the area under SO Galkayo coverage, and will undertake the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Participate in registration interviews, data entry, and documentation in accordance with verification SOPs and registration standards by undertaking the following tasks:
· Respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR’s registration procedures and their rights and entitlements.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data related to all individual registration cases.
· Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection and/or workstations for follow-up as required.
· Collaborate with Protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation.
· Act as interpreter and translator when needed.
· Perform other related duties as required.
Authority
· Refer cases to other workstations during the verification exercise as per the workflow.
Skills and qualifications
Essential & Desirable Minimum Requirements
· Completion of secondary education, preferably with post-secondary training or a certificate in social science, statistics, mathematics, information technology, or related fields.
· Very good computer skills.
· Data handling skills.
· Excellent knowledge of English and the local language. Knowledge of another relevant UN language will be an added advantage.
· Training in basic principles of international protection will be an asset.
· Experience in working with UNHCR ProGres/BIMS applications will be an asset.
Accommodation/Feeding: Selected candidates are expected to work 6 days per week and 8 hours a day and to follow the UNHCR and KAALO code of conduct. They will also be responsible for their accommodation, transportation, and feeding.

· Selected candidates will be recruited under KAALO and will not have any contractual relationship with UNHCR.
